5 Productivity Tips that will change your life

Introduction

We all want to be productive in our life. Whether you are a student, teacher, employee or business person, increasing your productivity is on your priority list. In this article, I will talk about some tips that can increase your productivity and make your life better. Let’s talk about the 5 productivity tips.

5 Productivity Tips that will change your life

  1. Avoid distractions: Keeping your smartphone away is the best productivity tip that I can give you. The reason is that mobile phone is the top source of distractions. You can never be productive when you are distracted from your work all the time. Therefore the best way to avoid distraction is to keep your mobile phone away when you are doing important work.
  2. Avoid Multitasking: According to scientific studies1, an average person cannot handle more than one cognitively challenging work. So it is best to avoid multitasking. However, you may listen to music while washing dishes or you may listen to an audiobook while driving- if you are a good driver. These are examples where there are less cognitively demanding challenges or only one task is cognitively challenging. You must consider how challenging your work is and if it is cognitively challenging it is best to avoid multitasking altogether.
  3. Take a break from work: “Neuroscientists have discovered that your brain works in two different ways. We’ll call these two ways of working the focused mode and the diffuse mode.” writes Barbara Oakley in her book Learning How to Learn2. “When you’re using your focused mode, it means that you’re paying attention.” Whereas, “Diffuse mode is when your mind is relaxed and free. You’re thinking about nothing in particular.” Both modes are important in helping you to learn. In order to enter into the diffuse mode, your mind should be allowed to wander when you take a break. While in the diffuse mode the mind searches for the solutions to the problems that you were engaged in during the focus mode. What this means is that your diffuse mode is as important as the focus mode because in the diffuse mode the Mind wanders and tries to find solutions to the problem that you want to find out.
  4. Be active: You must keep your mind and body active. You can do exercise to keep your body active and you can read books to keep your mind active. You must also make sure that you get enough sleep.
  5. Time Management: Last but not the least, you must manage time properly. Try to include a routine in your life. The function of a routine is not to restrain you, but to give you more freedom. Set a routine for you in which you will get to complete your task in time and allow you to have free time for your hobbies and passion.
